Yes, it’s September. Are you ready for the start of the new ski season? The first ski resorts are about to open, so are we! Most ski enthusiasts think the famous resort Sölden is the first to open but actually it’s Pitztaler Gletscher in Austria. This small cosy resort has its official opening planned the 18th of September. On the same day the Italian resort Schnalstal/Kurzras will open.
Sölden’s official pre-autumn season opening is planned on the 21st of September and the official opening on the 9th of October. These resorts have just opened their doors and the skiing is comparable with all-year-round glacier skiing. Skiing in these high altitude areas is certainly a perfect way to start your season if you want to work on your technic or just want to enjoy the amazing mountain views.
We know it’s hard to wait for the ‘real’ opening of the ski-season on the weekend of the 23th of October. In this weekend Sölden will host the Alpine Ski World Cup and a lot of slopes are ready for skiing. On the 24th international ski-stars will get together on the Rettenback Glacier, high above Sölden and compete for the first World Cup victory of the year. This thrilling event, the luxury atmosphere of the village and the lively après ski are the perfect conditions to start your new season!
